Pardeep Kumar / Perspective & background
Engineering & execution
More than a decade turning complex problems into dependable software, across industry and research.
My engineering background shapes the way I build: understand the problem, make the important decisions explicit, and validate the result. I have applied that approach across energy, semiconductors, engineering simulation, finance, and scientific computing.
Scientific computing and research
At CWI Amsterdam and TU Delft, I developed numerical methods and software for modelling complex fluid transport. The work connected mathematical formulation, robust implementation, and careful validation, including a reformulated thermodynamic optimisation algorithm that achieved an approximately 30× speedup over a traditional nested formulation.
My doctoral thesis has been submitted. The underlying methods and results are documented in my research overview and publications.
Industrial software
At Shell, I worked on performance-intensive simulation and data workflows. A representative GPU-enabled workflow went from approximately 30 minutes to 15 seconds, while a multi-client data workflow achieved more than 15× higher throughput.
At ASM International, I developed simulator features for semiconductor equipment and improved the structure and maintainability of existing software. Earlier work at KLA-Tencor, Altair, Fluidyn, and Aakraya Research spanned simulation engines, engineering tools, parallel solvers, and financial-data systems.
Independent product building
I also design and develop complete web products, from the user experience and application logic to data models and deployment. My projects include The Republic, Nazar India, Chess Duel, and WorkAtlas.
What I bring to the next chapter
Engineering has taught me to work across disciplines, balance detail with the larger purpose, and build things that can be tested and improved. I bring those habits to my current focus: building a school in India with strong people and a commitment to quality.
